July

Having a baby in the house has been so much fun. Henry and Makenzie just adore their new little sister.
Kenzie loves to tend to her sisters every need.

Henry wanted to join the party, too.

This boy loves his trains and his Legos!

For the 4th of July, we went to Park City and enjoyed a spectacular fireworks show. It was 10 degrees cooler there than in Salt Lake and it started to rain just seconds after the fireworks were over. We had fun on the play equipment and ate snow cones while we waited for the show to start.

He loves everything with wheels!

This cute girl loves to suck on those two middle fingers. I can never get over how adorable it is!

Cuddling with sissy.

She also almost always pulls the back of her hair as she sucks on her fingers <3 <3 <3

Henry stills loves to be swaddled. We wrapped him up in this blanket and he stayed like that on the couch for a good while before he finally broke out of the cocoon.

We love it when Our uncle comes to visit us!

The beginnings of holding her head up! I just love that little face!

Some more finger-sucking shots because they never get old!

Out of the Mouths of Babes

1/05/15-
Shane: Makenzie, how much do you love me?
Kenzie: Umm... three.

1/07/15
Shane and Makenzie have been playing with Star Wars Legos for the last couple of days and Makenzie absolutely loves that special time with her dad. Tonight, Shane was rummaging through some boxes trying to find other Lego's for them to play with and Makenzie was growing impatient. The Millennium Falcon (a spaceship) was in the other room waiting for them and Makenzie begged her dad to hurry up. Then she said "Dad, hurry up! Before Darth Vader breaks the ship!"

02/15
Since Shane was home, I took advantage of the kids nap time to go grocery shopping. When Makenzie woke up she was so excited that her dad was there to watch her and excitedly said "This is so fun without my mommy!" and "I don't need my mommy anymore because I have you!" I might have been offended if she wasn't so cute about it :)

03/02/15
Today I was trying to teach Makenzie the alphabet. I started off with the letters "a," "b" and "c." I thought that she knew those letters pretty well already and that it would be a simple review. Boy, was I wrong! I felt so frustrated that I couldn't get her to memorize only three letters and their sounds. At the height of my frustration Makenzie said "'A' says 'ba' for caterpillar." I had to laugh but couldn't help but feel like a complete failure as a mother.

03/01/15
This morning shortly after we woke up, I heard Henry playing around with the dishwasher. I tell him all the time not to get into it and I was getting ready to reprimand him when I saw that he had taken out two children bowls. He put one on his high chair and one in Makenzie's spot at the table, and had placed a spoon in each bowl. My heart melted. I thought it was so sweet of him to get a bowl out for his sister to eat some cereal too.

03/17/15
I came out of the shower a few weeks ago to Makenzie spraying water all over our TV screen which ended up destroying it. She's asked several times since then if we could watch a movie and then I have to explain to her that we cant because we don't have a television anymore. She asked again today if she could watch a movie. I said "We cant watch movies anymore, Makenzie. Do you know why?"
In a frustrated voice she said "because I broke the DANG TV!"

03/20/15
While at the library. "Dad, I love this kind of book building."

03/21/15
Kenzie was playing in the sandbox and was "making a pie."
"Yummy! What kind of pie?" I asked
"Ummm... sushi."
That's my girl :)

I found of couple of entries I made in my phone a while ago. I don't remember when Makenzie said these things.

"I will grow up to be a puppy and then I will "ruff" and it will be fun and it will be REALLY fun!"

I had to wash Kenzie's favorite little stuffed puppy because he was filthy and she was really upset about it.
"Noooo! Don't put him in the washing machine!" Through tears she said "Don't put him in there because he will cry!"

04/10/2015
After I accidentally called Makenzie "babe"
"Why'd you call my name babe? That's my DAD's middle name!"

06/08/2015
When we were visiting my sister and a couple of her girls got into a fight which ended in tears. A few minutes later Kenzie asked "Mom, why were those girls crying?"
Her cousin Mallory answered saying "Because Kaylee's mean!"
K: No she isn't!
M: Yes she is!
K: (Almost in tears) Kaylee is NOT mean!!! Mom, Mallory say's Kaylee's mean!
Me: Well, sometimes Kaylee can be mean... sometimes we can all be mean.
M: Yeah, once Kenzie bit me.
K: Yeah, when I was really small.
M: Nooo, you weren't small, you were big.
K: (Enthusiastically amazed) When I was really REALLY big? Like when I was four?! (She is still three, by the way)
M: No, I think you were like three.
K: What the heck?!!! Well, I'm really sorry I bitted you.

06/09/2015
Kenzie came in the house from playing outside and excitedly told Emma to come see the frog she had found. Emma went out to see and found a lizard in the flower bed right where Kenzie led her. Emma said "Oh, that's not a frog, it's a lizard."
Kenzie said "Oh. I thought it was a frog or a dragon."
Sound logic :)

06/024/2015
"Mom!!! Henry keeps hitting me with him damn car!"     Oooops :)

06/30/2015
When Kenzie goes number 2 on the potty, we like to help her wipe up afterwards. That being said, Kenzie was on the potty today and yelled to her dad that she was done (I was gone). Shane was trying to figure something out on the computer and kept thinking that he was almost done so he kept Makenzie waiting as she yelled and yelled that she was daone and was ready for him to help her. After a few minutes of this she said "Are you serious right now, Dad?!!! Are you just staying ou there?!

07/06/2015
Today Makenzie REALLY wanted to watch "the movie with the bad guy." As there are many, MANY movies with "a bad guy" I had no idea what she was talking about. I tried asking her all sorts of questions about it but still couldn't figure out what movie she was talking about. She finally said "Let me think about it." Two minutes of quiet thinking time went by and she looked at me and said "Do you know which one I'm talking about now?"
She got really upset that I couldn't read her mind and still didn't know. All I could get out of her was that there was a bad guy, a guy with a green shirt, a princess and music.
"Are you thinking about the movie?"
"Yes, and I still don't know which one it is."
"Well think about it for a looong time."
Finally, after searching and searching for movies she could be talking about, I got out the Hunchback of Notre Dame and asked her if that was the one.
"YEAH! See? That wasn't hard!"
